Service life of steel shot

The longevity of our high-quality steel shot stems from its meticulous manufacturing process, utilizing high-grade materials, and the fact that various types of steel shot offer varying service lives. Its economical usage, particularly in shot blasting and casting treatments, makes it an incredibly cost-effective solution. Its operation is straightforward, emphasizing the ease with which it can be employed. This article will primarily delve into the lifespan of steel shot.

Steel shot, essentially pellets derived from steel wire, is categorized primarily into stainless steel shot, ordinary high-carbon steel shot, and low-carbon steel shot, based on the steel wire used in their production.

On average, steel shot can be recycled up to 3000-3500 times, demonstrating its remarkable durability. Importantly, there is no definitive scrap standard as it gradually wears down and transforms into dust over time. Steel shot boasts a versatile application range, suitable for nearly all surface treatments of workpieces. Its lengthy lifespan and affordable cost have endeared it to customers, fostering a robust market demand and extensive usage, particularly in shipyards. Compared to cast iron shot, steel shot typically enjoys a 15-30% longer lifespan, attributed to its lower porosity and reduced looseness. Steel shot is the preferred choice for precision parts, while stainless steel shot is ideal for stainless steel components and aluminum castings due to its non-contaminating properties and superior wear resistance. High-hardness steel shot, meanwhile, is employed to reinforce the blades, cylinders, and connecting rods of aircraft and diesel engines.
